Over 34 Million Tourists Visit Quintana Roo from January to May

The Secretary of Tourism, Miguel Torruco Marqués, announced that during the first five months of 2024, hotel room arrivals totaled 34.3 million tourists; of which 24.5 million were domestic tourists, representing 71.4% of the total, while 9.8 million were foreign tourists, accounting for 28.6% of the total across the 70 centers monitored by DataTur.

The head of Sectur noted that from January to May 2024, cities registered 19.6 million tourists in hotel rooms, while beach resorts received 14.7 million tourists.

He specified that during this period, hotel occupancy reached 60.3% in the 70 destinations monitored by DataTur, maintaining the same percentage compared to the same period last year.

He reported that from January to May 2024, city destinations recorded a hotel occupancy of 52.6%, which is 0.9 percentage points higher compared to the same period in 2023, while beach resorts reached an occupancy rate of 68.9%.
